Thousands of Hindu families have gone without a mandir in Cambridgeshire, an overlooked need we can no longer ignore. Together, we can build the spiritual home our community deserves.

For years, our community in Cambridgeshire has yearned for a spiritual home, a sacred space where our heritage can truly flourish. While we treasure the moments spent in temporary halls, our collective soul longs for a proper Mandir, a beacon of devotion, a sanctuary of peace, and the foundation of our cultural identity.
In the last five years, the Hindu population here has grown rapidly, especially among young families who want their children to stay connected with our traditions. This growth brings a deeper spiritual and cultural need, a place where children can learn our scriptures, where families can celebrate Diwali and Navratri together, and where elders can find daily solace through darshan. This is our shared dream, ready to be brought to life.

Dedicated faith and community land in Northstowe near Lake. Learn more:
Cambridgeshire is home to thousands of Hindu families, yet we remain without a dedicated Temple building. This absence creates a void in our community that extends far beyond the spiritual realm.
Families must travel to London, Leicester, or beyond for temple visits, making regular worship difficult and expensive
Young people lack local access to festivals, Sanskrit classes, and community celebrations that connect them to their heritage
Our elderly community members miss the comfort of daily temple visits, satsang, and the spiritual nourishment of regular worship
Without a central gathering place, our traditions, values, and cultural identity risk diminishing over time
A Mandir serves as the beating heart of Hindu community life. It's where devotion finds expression, where families strengthen bonds, where children absorb timeless values, and where our collective identity flourishes. The Cambridge Hindu Temple & Community Centre will be a place of celebration during festivals, solace during difficult times, and joy throughout our daily lives.
This sacred space will ensure that future generations inherit not just stories of our culture, but living, breathing experiences of Hindu traditions, philosophy, and community spirit.
Watch our short awareness videos explaining why Cambridgeshire urgently needs a Hindu Temple, and how the Faith & Community Land (Section 106) opportunity can help us build it.
Northstowe Phase 1 includes designated Faith & Community Land — a precious opportunity created through Section 106 planning agreements. South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) is now accepting applications from eligible faith and community groups for this land.
This isn't merely an allocation; it's a divine opening for our community to plant roots.
This represents a once-in-a-generation, sacred chance to establish a permanent spiritual home for Cambridgeshire's Hindu community, uniquely positioned near a water body considered very auspicious in our religion. Such a profound opportunity is extraordinarily rare and fleeting. We are called, as a united community, to seize this moment with unwavering belief and full backing, for it will shape our legacy for centuries.
HSN is preparing a comprehensive, community-backed application demonstrating our need, commitment, and vision
Pledges, donations, and involvement directly strengthen our case and show united community backing
This land could become the permanent home of our region's first dedicated Hindu Temple
The Section 106 land allocation process demands a clear demonstration of genuine community need, widespread support, and unwavering organisational readiness. This is our moment to rise: every single pledge strengthens our application, every donation showcases our collective financial commitment, and every volunteer demonstrates the profound dedication of our community.
The Faith & Community Land window closes in January 2026, when our bid is submitted. This is the crucial period when the council looks for real community activity, signatures, pledges, donations, and visible support.
Every action taken now strengthens our application and shows we are ready for a Temple in Cambridgeshire.

For over four years, Hindu Samaj Northstowe (HSN) has been strengthening Hindu community life across Cambridgeshire through festivals, seva, children’s activities, and cultural gatherings.
HSN is the local registered charity based in Northstowe, which is a key eligibility requirement for applying for the Faith & Community Land under Section 106. This makes HSN the appropriate organisation to submit the bid.
But the Temple is not a Northstowe only project.
HSN is applying on behalf of every Hindu family across Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, St Ives, Ely, and beyond, uniting our wider community behind a single shared vision.
HSN has been a vibrant force, weaving Hindu families across Cambridgeshire into a beautiful tapestry of shared experiences and spiritual growth through:
